This Torah class is brought to you by TorahAnytime.com. That's the parshah. Yitzchak is geboirn. Yitzchak is born. If you look at the pesukim, the Torah, there's a lot of tzchok, gelachter around Yitzchak, the besurah that he was going to be born. We find in Parshas Lech Lecha, in the Bris Bein HaBesarim, that Avraham Avinu laughed, Vayipol al panav vayitzchak. We find that Sarah, Vatischak Sarah b'kirbah. When he was already born, they called him Yitzchak. When the Torah says weiter, Sarah it gezogt, Kol ha-shomea yitzchak li, tzchok, gelachter. What's the gelachter? What was this tzchok? So much around the besurah, the leida, to the point that Yitzchak is angerufen. That was his name, Yitzchak. Avraham Avinu calls him Yitzchak. Vos iz geven der tzchok? What was it? There's many different interpretations, pshatim, vos me ken farteitchen vos meint dos tzchok. Is tzchok, gelachter, laughter. Is tzchik happiness? The Ramban already is me'orer the different nekudos of tzchik. Which one is Yitzchak, which one is Yischak? There's a lot in the Rishonim. Pshat: what is tzchik? What is the Vayitzchak and the name of Yitzchak, Yitzchak? What is it? Lemaaseh, the Rishonim—Rashi brings already from the Targum—to understand the chiluk between the gelechter from Avraham Avinu and Sarah. By Sarah, we find that the Ribono Shel Olam ta'anit Sarah. She complains to Sarah, first to Avraham and then to Sarah, 'Lamah zeh tzachakah Sarah?' What, you laugh? ... What are you laughing? And Sarah says, 'Lo nichlacht.' ... The Ribono Shel Olam says, 'Yeah,' and she says, 'No, ...' She says that I didn't do it. But what's the chiluk? What's the difference between Avraham Avinu—vos ven er lacht, there's no ta'ina; Vayipol al panav vayitzchak. That's not a complaint. The Ribono Shel Olam has no tochachah. There's no tochachah about that. But when Sarah said it, and when Sarah did it, there was a whole taina, למה זה צחקה שרה. So Rashi in Parshas Lech Lecha, by the Bris Bein HaBesarim, brings the Targum. What the Targum says is a very big difference. By Avraham Avinu, it was a loshon of simcha, chedva, chadi, gefreit, happy. Mashenkein by Sarah, ותצחק, חייכת, gelacht. And that's why I told you, it's a very small, here, difference between ותצחק, what Avraham Avinu did, and ותצחק, what Sarah. What Avraham did was what? Chadi. Says the Targum, בשם דתרגום, chadi, happy. That's a good thing. Chaykis, gelacht, this was a taina. This was given a taina, that was a taina. The Targum Yonason, if you look at the Brisker Rav, works on this Targum Yonason as a pshat. The Targum says over here, ותצחק שרה ותמאיס. She wondered.
She wondered. זאָגט בריסקער רב, בשלמא אם ביסט צופרידן, גוט, you're happy. אבל תמיהה is, you're wondering. What are you wondering? And the Brisker Rav is masbir. וואס איז דער פשט? ... Of course she believed. ... What are we talking about? The Ribono Shel Olam ... she definitely believed. נאר אפס, זי געווען ותמיהה, גיוונדערט. And Brisker Rav says, that's the pshat why the Ribono Shel Olam tells Avraham, התהלך לפני והיה תמים. לשון פלא. Wonder. Wunder-sach. What's wunder-sach? ביסט אַ נביא. What are you wondering? And that means that the Brisker Rav learned the pshat that it wasn't even questioning; it was just a wonder, a davar shel פלא. It was something, astounding, not chas v'shalom, faith. ... נאר א פלא. פלא? My dear, it's a פלא? What's a פלא? Something should be a wonder to you. Shaila from Brisker Rav that by Avraham Avinu, וַיִּטֶּל על פניו וַיִּצְחָק, the targum Yonason ... is מתרגם ותמיהה. That's dafka not pshat in Chumash here. Dafka not pshat in Brisker Rav. If der pshat in vateitzerak Sarah, un dos geven a ta'anis, der pshat because it's neis, zi gevundert. Avraham Avinu, the tagem yonis. Rashi brings the tagem Onkelos, that by Avraham Avinu, vechadi, dos gechaykes. Mashenkein the Targum Yonason brings, as dos geven a tumaheis bris, chas v'shalom, explains the pshat is, tumaheis — she was wondering, not misafek. U'maaseh Targum Yonason zogt es by Avraham echad. I could tell her, but just to explain to you, the Brisker Rav lacht tzeilen a maaseh. S'shoin a maaseh, rabosai. It's already gedrוקט un ale veisen, un ich kum nisht zogn, zogn vos ale veisen. I'm not here to tell you stories everybody knows, vos darf ich do kumen. But there's a shtikel eisafah to der maaseh vos keiner veist nisht. The maaseh yedua is, az der Ran, haGaon Reb Chaim Kanievsky zal, he wrote a sefer a peirush on Chagavim, on grasshoppers, mutter, all the ganze sugya of Chagavim. A kuntres. Einu far Reb Chaim's kuntresen. Veist doch Reb Chaim shreibt doch kuntresen, vos keiner dreit nisht on. Sugya is that nobody touches, er schreibt mit shas, mit poskim, okay. So he had a shtikel a sofek vegn a chagav, a type of a grasshopper, yeah, this is the type, this is what it is, the min. A gantze... So the story goes that when he sat down to write the shtikel that he was writing, that he had a safek what the chagav is, is a rain geflugen, is a rain geflit. It flew in from the outside, a chagav, a mudnes, a mudne bug. Afilu far bnei Noach is es geven mutar. Un er sitzt, un er tracht, ah, der Ribono Shel Olam hot em tsugeshikt dem chagav, kedei az er zol kenen farshteyn un shraybn af der inyan that he should be able to understand the chagav. Gut. Everybody knows this maaseh. But the world doesn't know is the yesod of the maaseh. I tell maaseh. Reb Chaim Kreiswirth zikh tzaddik livrachah, a tverpener rav. He has a son here in Lakewood, a great talmid chacham, a gaon. We spent a summer together, and he says to me, Yu veystst de maaseh mit Reb Chaim, with the grasshopper? Let me tell you a yesod to the maaseh. My father, Reb Chaim, went in to Reb Chaim, Chaim Kreiswirth, to Reb Chaim Kanievsky, and he says, Yu veystst, the world רעדט, the world was talking, that you were writing on chagavim.
On a Chag, a trunken, it flew into your window, on the table. Half of a fellow. Oilem's tumbling, the oilem areh, take it down. Nisim, niflaos. HaRav Chaim Kanievsky gezogt to Reb Chaim Kreiswirth, Ich hob kas af dir. I'm angry at you. I'm angry at you. What did I do? Bishleima the outside world, by zey is a gzeise meifes, vos a Yid zitzt un lernt, un der Ribono Shel Olam hot arayngeshikt a chagav, and it just plunked when he needed the chagav, it came to him. Aber Reb Chaim, du bist doch a ben Torah. Du host doch emunah in the Ribono Shel Olam. To you this is a big story? To you this is a chiddush? To them, that's nispael, a maaseh. Dos iz a maaseh? Of course the Ribono Shel Olam sends to the person. Ich hob kas, I'm angry at you. Hayipalei meHashem davar? Do meisaret gat an a shtikel a sekunde sofek? She was the shteiner gib a kup pilei ployes, pilei ployes, half of a fellow. Mish—that there was a sofek, there was any question. Aber she... Hat der Eiberשטער gesagt, vos machst du a pele fun dem, a yipolim Hashem davar. Der Eiberשטער lefirt די וועלט. Bist a chabales emunah, bist a chad neviah, du host a sofek. Dos iz der pshat, meiz, nisht tmeiah miloshon she'eilah, tsu vundern zikh fun nispaeles. And of dem iz der taina, yipolim Hashem davar. Habeis, איך זאג אַן אַנדערן מהלך. ס'דא אסאך תורה פון זיי, there's a lot to talk about Yitzchok and tzchok and the ganze tainos Sarah. But let me tell you an interesting mahalach. The Malbim learns, VaTitzchak Sarah, and our Rishonim, Acharonim learn like this: Sefriden, she was happy. So vos iz schlecht? So what was wrong? Az iz geven VaTitzchak. Chadis, iz vos iz der taine of Sarah, vos iz nisht of Avraham Avinu? Rabosai, simcha, darf men gut oplegn, darf gut farshteyn simcha. What do I mean? Simcha is a tremendous avodah. Ta gut iz ach. Un Sarah imeinu farshtanen, she understood az zi darf absure teiveh, muz men hobn simcha. At the end of the shiur we'll talk: simcha darf men hobn tsuzamen mit yirah, mit pachad, tsu mizug. It balances. Yitzchak was pachad, it was yirah, it was din. The balance of it, the simcha. It's a tremendous avodah, rabosai. Each one of the avos gave us tremendous yesodos in avodas Hashem. Yitzchak was yirah, it was din. But there was also an inyan of simcha. Tzchok, simcha, simcha. And now I'm going to explain to you, vas is geven Sarah's tzchok, uvas is geven der taineh, uvas is geven der chiluk tzvishen der tzchok fun Avraham Avinu, pirs der tzchok fun Sarah. Aveis, why loman fangen mit a Yerushalmi? A peledike Yerushalmi, hafloh felah. He's running to get the Yerushalmi because I want to read it for you inside. ... farher mir, farher mir tzu kenen der Yerushalmi oyserveyn. Maskim. The Yerushalmi, perek zayin, halachah aleph, zogt: Der Yerushalmi az der Ribono Shel Olam ... mit froyen. Certain froyen, yeah. Certain ladies, yeah.
Are you looking that up? Are you Googling Vastos dat? This is this? Oh, I thought you were going to give me the Yerushalmi. Okay. Obviously women he talks to. קרקום קירקום. The Ribono Shel Olam went out of his way to speak here to Sarah. ... And he said, למה זה צחקה שרה? So why does he have to go back and talk again, וַיֹּאמֶר אֶל שָׂרָה, ...? He already asked Avraham Avinu, למה זה צחקה שרה? Shei gefragt. ... like, כי צחקת, כי יראה, I didn't do it. It's a סימן as the Ribono Shel Olam wanted to talk to Sarah. He was מסבב, he wanted to talk to Sarah. ... Everybody knows ... Not everybody knows that it's ... on Yerushalmi. ... Why would he be מסבב to talk to her about a complaint that she did an aveirah? ... This is what the Ribono Shel Olam wants to hear from Sarah. He wants to talk to Sarah. This, azoi fregt. ... Bishleimus hagutes, ach, bishleimus hi tefillah. But why would the Ribono Shel Olam want, punkt, to talk to Sarah about something that was a chet? He says a meiredike chiddush. She was mechaser a chet. She made it she didn't do it. A shelo mechaser, pshav, and that was a good thing. That's what he wanted to hear. Az Yishemtzach mit a chet. Un dos iz gut. Az heift ... ... We have to understand what was the tzchok of Sarah. Was it a good thing? Was it a bad thing? What was it? What happened? She was happy. A lot of Rishonim learn like that. So if she was happy, ... she was happy. But the ta'ina is that in the happiness, here, Rabbeisai, emes, ... the Ribono Shel Olam was able to identify ... happy, ... And to the point, says the Chofetz Chaim, that's why she says, I didn't do it. Lo yitzachakti. It never happened. Because afilu ziy a leynes tos nisht farshtanen. She herself didn't even realize this nekudah in her, that there was something. And the Rabbeishim's like, Ki tzachak — it's not true. There was something there that wasn't 100%. I'll say, let the Chofetz Chaim. Abeisai, hered, abeisai, hered, half Lefel Yeseidus hachayim in one minute. You ready? Sifana Kleyaka. The Kley Yakar says, Az der Ribono Shel Olam hot getainet a Sarah, du bist geven tsufriden. And she was happy, but you weren't happy enough. You should have been happy more. Abeisai, her, hered, hera Kley Yakar. The Ribono Shel Olam tells you you could have a child. You were happy, not enough. Chaim learns that she was happy, so what's the taina? The taina is, epes within, epes was. The Kley Yakar says, No, no, she was very happy, in gantzen tsufriden, beful with emunah.
What was the problem? With the emunah in the yeshuah came fear. ... Rabbei, ... hafla vafela. ... who's going to bring up the child? And even if I could bring up the child, because ... became young, ... who's ...? Avraham Avinu wasn't chazer in arusoi. Avraham Avinu didn't go back to his younger keiches. ... So I know I'm going to have a child. ... Hafla vafela. ... simchah of ... simchah means ... ... best ... ... That's the pshat ... ... Lo yitzchakti ki yareiya. ... I have emunah. I'm not afraid. Ki yareiya. Pachad. Pachad. ... דאַף ואני בחסדך בטחתי, יָגֵל לִבִּי בִּישוּעָתֶךָ. When the Ribono Shel Olam schtikt a yeshuah, dafnigleiben that it's going to be a full yeshuah. ... In the pasuk, when did the Ribono Shel Olam give techachah to Sarah? It's mashma right afterwards, no? It's mashma. Gelacht, happened Pesach, and right afterwards, למה זה צחקה שרה. It's nisht emes. The למה זה צחקה שרה happened on Sukkos. So Rishonim, the Maharsha on Rosh Hashanah, Yud Aleph amud Aleph, the Maharsha says klal that the למה זה צחקה שרה was on Sukkos. ... Why did the Ribono... what happened? When did she laugh? So the Maharsha needs a hesber. So I found in the Chizkuni. The Chizkuni learns that the צחקה was actually in Sukkos too. What's the pshat? From Pesach to Sukkos, she geshvenged six months, and she didn't see any. Where's the baby? Mimeila, צחקה. It was after months of pregnancy, ... Mimeila the taineh given of us. Af Sukkos. Santa chizkuni. Avdech sam sefer le'... Chamishah ... that it's chayk, zit gelacht a Pesach. Un der Ribono Shel Olam mit ir gemont on Sukkos. Why on Sukkos? He says an interesting chiddush, a lot of Torah about this, but the time doesn't let me to be marich. I wish I could, I wish I would, but I won't. Okay? But b'kitzur, nach Rosh Hashanah Yom Kippur, Sukkos, tachshuva. Teshuva na'aseh kezchuyos. Fragt der Chasam Sofer a kasha: what's the pshat that Sarah—I'm sorry—that the Ribono Shel Olam tells Avraham Avinu, 'Sarah gechayte geven'? Who does that? Tell me, which normal mensch גייט צו צו a man and says, 'By the way, your wife...' V'chi dalturin hoyo? Fragt der Chasam Sofer. But she's a—The Ribono Shel Olam davka Avraham... What are you doing? Vata'ini zaken, shinim bnei hasholim—you want to be shinim bnei hasholim? Don't say it at all. Gleglech, tzutzusadeh. V'chi dalturin hoyo? Un er fragt, un er fragt. Dalturin means, what are you telling— I see you like the kasha. I'm telling the kasha. What's...
And you say the worst thing about Ben Sagar. What's going on? Says the same sefer, he waited till after Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkos, naaseh kischuyos. Memeila, he went גוטע זאַך. And that's the pshat, לא קיצחך כי הרעיה, תשובה מיראה. If it's תשובה מאהבה, then it's תשובה מיראה, it's not kischuyos, back and forth, and doesn't the shakla vetarya. Teireh, teireh, teireh. Gut, nach Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkos, came and said the chet from Sagar. We can talk about a chet because it was זכויות already. Says the same sefer, and that's with the taanah. כי יראה was teshuvah מיראה. Rebbe, so למה זאגן פשט? Un בעלבת'ישע מעשיות, that נישט. למה זאגן פשט, I say. I told you over, there's a Yalkut. The Yalkut says, versus Sukkos. Sukkos is נגילה ונשמחה בך. So he states in Yalkut, we know this Sukkos, especially Simchas Torah, is נגילה ונשמחה בך. Says the Yalkut, בך, בישועתך. Says the Yalkut, בך, בתורתך. But it says first בך, בישועתך. You notice all that kafs? הושיעה נא, הושיעה נא, הושיעה נא, הצליחה נא. Why all this with the kafs? And the answer is, simcha of Sukkos is בך, בישועתך. And the Rabbeinu Shalom, nach Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, dafn hoben aza simcha. That it's Bach b'Yeshuasecha. Playaka zogt mir, az it נישט געווען גענוג בשמחה because he wasn't boteach in gantzen in the yeshuas Hashem, because he had daygus. Daygus? Sukkos? Sukkos has daygus? Sukkos? Sukkos is nogea l'venismach bach, Bach b'Yeshuasecha. Hot zi getain a tzchokes. The Ribono Shel Olam comes to her on Sukkos. Az eyneinu, it's a gutte vort, chavers, I nems aheim a gut vort. Vos is der pshat he waited till Sukkos? Alan Sukkos, the taina was b'Yeshuasecha, simchah, b'yeshuas Hashem. There's a Tanna d'Bei Eliyahu, say it quickly, Tanna d'Bei Eliyahu says, Omotz, צו מור נבואות about the nechamos and yeshuos of Klal Yisrael, more than any other navi. Amar Eliyahu, says Eliyahu, why? Shekibel malchus Shamayim b'simchah. This is a Tanna d'Bei Eliyahu. He was mekabel shem Shamayim b'simchah. Because of that, he saw yeshuas and nechamos more than any other. Gatevesai, people who don't have children, leinu, are suggested that they should be b'simchah. Medically, this is already a proven thing. There's books and books written about this. The correlation, the kesher between simchah, atzvus. A mini asirah, that you can't have children. It's a mefurasha sefer in this week's parsha, beisai. The sefer says that the Ribono Shel Olam sent the malachim. Havasa the geshikt the malachim, zogt the sefer, he sends the malachim levaser Sarah. Sefer. Zogt the sefer, ayei Sarah. They ask, Where is Sarah? What do you mean, ayei Sarah? What's wrong if you tell Avram to tell Sarah? Why is he shlecht? You want to tell the news. Tell it to Avram to tell it to Sarah. No, directly to Sarah. Ki kavanas ha-shlichus hoysah levaser Sarah, shetismach. They want to make her happy, v'sodeh, k'dei sheyeh ha-ibur yoser shalem. Because she's gesund. It's for a fool reasons, yeah? A sefer. Yeah, beisai, a sefer. Refuah. It's good for the child if the mother is happy. I want to tell you how megedik a maaseh. See, ven a tzaddik, Reb Shmueli Kaminker, a tzaddik, his daughter did not have children.
Hot zi geshikt, hot er geshikt the daughter, krigen a bracha, durchredn zach mit a tzaddik, Reb Elfami Barshad. Einer fun di tzaddikei hador. So she came to say, I don't have children. Hot Reb Elfami Barshadi gezogt, Forget from brachos, vilst a gute eitzah? Zay b'simcha, be happy. Just having children. And he said, There's three places in the Torah: one in the Torah, one in the Neviim, and one in the Kesuvim, versus a raya of der nekudah simchah is a segulah for kinder. A titzchak sarah b'kirbah. See what we're learning? Mamash the way I explained it to you. A titzchak sarah b'kirbah, k'dei shel'havi a kind. That itself was she should have children. How about in Neviim? Rani akarah, nu? Mayalda. How about Kesuvim? Mashivi akeres habayis, eim habanim semeichah. So hete gezogt. Hot er meidaleh, der Tochterl fun Reb Yisroel Kaminetzker, she came back to her father. She told her father what happened. So her father said, Ah, meidele, oto dos is the best brachah. Hop simchah. That's it. No, you can't do ... this you can't learn, you can't go to ... mit the Rabbans, mit the Alter Torah, a gute, you can't. So she asked her father, I don't understand. A titzchak sarah b'kirbah was a taineh. Which is what everyone should have been asking. ... It's a complaint. So he answered her gevaldik. When you don't have directly from the Rabbeinu Shleilam, az mist hobn kinder, muz zayn b'simcha. But here you got directly from the Rabbeinu Shleilam. The ... said. Mimeila is a taineh, daf onkumen, that you had to come onto the simcha. You need to come onto the simcha to get help. Beisai, a pam in a ... get me das bald oplernen. But before we go there, I want to tell you that be'emes, der simcha is nit nafa hirayon. It's for all things. It definitely helps for all the machlos, az eshtei. In perek yud ches in Mishlei, pasuk yud daled, shteit, Ruach ish yechalkel machleihu. Ruach ish yechalkel. It gives sustenance, it gives healing, it heals the machlah, zogt the goyen, clearly, pashut pshat. Ven k'she'ish tamim b'simcha, yechalkel machleihu, af sheyavo lo machlah, even if he has a machlah, chas v'shalom, hu yechalkel machleihu b'simchaso yivatlena. With simcha, he can mevatel it. Aval mi sheyesh lo ruach necheyah, if a person's broken, v'hu בעצבון, and he has depression, vos meruften depression, mi yachol lisa zos? He's finished. There's no hope. Simcha. Now, l'choira, the pshat in the Goyen is just physical. The doctors explain, on happiness suppresses the immune system. Everybody knows the Torah, right? The number one thing they teach you in the hospitals, muz zayn b'simcha, boosts the immune system. Habeisai, midach yidden. Habeis, there's no such a thing as a mechkar hateva, al tzotam mit Teirah. Well, let us understand Teirahdik. Teirahdik. What is the inyan of simcha? It has nothing only to do with refuah. Simcha, rabosai, is hatzlacha far ale inyonim in davening. And I'll show you where I got this from. It's a Maharal. Rabosai, lomer, I see the time. Baaldus hamnocha she'einah ma'aseh, mit nachavot. Hera, u'metzarichu min tsum pasuk. Someone goes to war, mi sheboneh bayis chadash, yeilech veyashuv l'veiso. Mi she'iras isha, yeilech veyashuv l'veiso. Mi she'nata kerem. Why? Shema yamus, v'ish acher... another will take him.
Sogt מען, geitel milchamah, tracht men azoi, me tonisht trachten azoi בכלל. I say, is that what you're supposed to go al yichud Hashem, and maybe it goes to war, knows that he could die, but you're not supposed to think that way. His favos net menisht, der mensh git mir a pep talk. Vos trachst? Bist a soldat. Ertzאך, v'yameid aleh. A soldat tracht azoi: emer geit shtarbn, tracht nisht. Don't think shtarbn; vos trachst shtarbn? Rambam speaks that a person goes l'milchamah, geit al yichud Hashem. Geb em a musar shmues, oder a ruchnistige musar shmues. Yichud Hashem, like the Rambam brings down. O, geb em a... a general, רעד ווי a general, speak like a general. Sogt the Maharal Gur Aryeh, if there's a little bit in the back of his mind something that bothers him, isra mazlei. Isra mazlei, vadai yamus b'milchamah. That's... yeah, the Maharal, peledige Maharal. Isra mazlei. He's gonna have that because he's not a hundred percent b'simchah. Something in the back of his mind is being doyg. He's worrying about something. P'saklein, in the back of his head is something. Hakete geit, ya soldat geit. Isra mazlei, vadai yamus b'milchamah. Dos eydes a tzal lernen, dos is der pshat. You bring a korban. Why are you bringing the korban? ... That they went, and we did what we had to do. We gave them food, and we gave them drink. What happens if they didn't give them food and they didn't give them drink? ... That's why he was going to die on the road. What does one have to do with the other? ... Let's say they fed him and they took care of him. It's vaz. So that means what? That when he was walking from one city to another, he wasn't going to get stuck in a matzav of sakana? ... Yeah, nu. If they would have mechazek him, he would have been feel good. ... He would have been in a upbeat, happy. He would have been in a good state of mind. ... And zogt us the pshat, Ki b'simcha seitzeiu uv'shalom tuvalun. Simcha seitzeiu. ... B'shalom tuvalun. ... There's a story told over, I found in the ksavim ... as a young... Young man, before he was a rebbe, he was a merchant of wood. He used to dealt in the wood business. Is der tzuger gegangen in Danzig, to der יריד, the market. It was in Danzig. There were a lot of Yidden there. Stam, it was near the Chof Hayam. A Yid is arayngeglitsht; he slipped into the water. Un alem geschrien, and everyone started to scream, Hatzolah! Hatzolah! Leift, kumt, blut! And the guy was patching. He was trying to—he couldn't get out. He was sinking. He was sinking. The rabbonim … geshtanen by the bay, and he screamed to the guy, Reb Yid! Der geyst avek! Shekach … l'viyos. Don't forget to send regards to the Leviyos. Mit a mol, he was able to swim back to the water. Azoy iz a maise. Nu, … an ander volt gezogt, Zwei petzer … No, another guy would say …
Ich tat trinkt zich un du lachst, du machst jokes. Ate Rabbeinu—no. He got a kiss for it. The rebben gekusht, un es gezogt, ‘Vas, no pshat.’ He was being mesiyaesh. So the rebben wanted to make him zayn b’simcha, bisl nisht misyaesh zayn. So he brought him a moment of simcha. Meileh, the mazel was geven shtark, un mit dem iz aroys fun der vaser. Shekah gerusah l’viyos. Rabosai, I see that everyone wants to tell me ich zol shikken a gerusah l’viyos. Noch tzvei minut, voll ich shikken a gerusah l’viyos. Okay, good. Another minute or two, noch a minut tzvei, rabosai, yeah. Mit dem vil ich zogen pshat, her a pshat, rabosai. Yitzchok was called Yitzchok, kol ha’shomea yitzachak li. Zogt Rashi, what is yitzachak li? Yismach imi. And then Rashi says, Midrash Aggadah, harbei cholim nisrapu, harbei akaros nifkedu, harbei yeshuos—there was tremendous yeshuos—harbei schochei olam. It was a happy day in the world, kol ha’shomea yitzachak li. Rabosai, lomir redden pashut. Let’s read a Rashi, a heilige Rashi. Kol ha’shomea—whoever hears my yeshuah yitzachak li. What is yitzachak li? Yismach imi. Lomar fregn: alles dem geven azelche heilige mentshen vos mehalt yenems a simcha mitantzt? You ever see a guy, look at the simcha board. Wow! The news travels all of a sudden, everybody hears. ... So could be Sarah was balipt; she was loved, okay? I can tell you terutzim, terutzim, and terutzim. Aber vos iz pshat? Pashut, yismach imi. Vos iz der tzveiter chelek fun der heilige Rashi? Harbei karos nifkedu, harbei shechok ba'olam. What does that have to do with kol ha'shomea? Who ever heard Yitzchak li? Hot nisht mit the fact that everybody had a child? ... In the pshat in Rashi, vi farshteit der Rashi? Because Sarah had a child, everybody's happy. That true? Second of all, what's the pshat? Harbei hakaros, harbei roycholim, harbei simcha. Aber it says kol ha'shomea; it has to do with listening to hearing Sarah's yeshua. It's not the yeshua of the people. It's mashma from Rashi there was a lot of tzchok ba'olam. When the Teretz Rabbe says, if Sarah can have a yeshua, ... yismach imi. She brought hope. She brought simcha. U'memeila harbei akaros nifkedu, and harbei cholim nisrapu, v'harbei yeshuos. It's all ein Rashi. Rabosai, yeder mentions ein lebn. Kumt on matzavim, vos yiddish a bissel gevalt a rain, gevalt a rain. You don't see where, what. Mizetchen nisht, zetchen nisht. You don't see the mahalach. Ve darf farshtehn, az Yischa mazli, a mol der yesh alein brengt arop the problems. It's nisht meine velt, it's not me, rabosai. It's the Maharal, it's the Rishonim, it's Chazal, it's vatitchak Sarah. That yish inside somewhere, like the Chofetz Chaim says, can be a brekele yish, could be a little bit that you don't even realize it. Ot dos gufa is the problem, and it's going to be geirem that it should continue. Der eitzah hanechonah is simchah b'yeshuas Hashem. That's the biggest segulah you can do, the biggest segulah. Lebin b'simchah, rabosai. It's a tall order, I know, it's not easy.
