This Torah class is brought to you by TorahAnytime.com. Shidduchim is ma'aseh. You have to work hard for shidduch. Why? Shidduch is a mitzvah, and every mitzvah is ma'aseh. It's bechirah. It's ma'aseh. You've got to work on it. What does that mean? Mazal, mazal, every mazal, the Eibishter—what mazal? It's hard work. So which one is it? You know, you come to a chasunah, what do you say? Mazal tov! Yeah? I always wondered, what's mazal tov? What do you mean? Ay, ein mazal l'Yisrael. Very touching topic here, because some people live their whole life with mazal, besides that the wife is called mazal. We don't have it so much by the Ashkenazim, but the wife is called mazal. It's a good lesson, yeah? A person, his wife is mazal, he should think that she's a mazal tov, she's taka mazal, yeah? So which one is it? Is it mazal? So let's learn a Gemara. The Gemara in Sotah, daf daled says, Zivug rishon is b'mazal. Zivug sheini is talui b'ma'aseh. So what does that mean? So some want to say, first marriage, second marriage, right? First marriage, mazal. Second marriage, and of course the question is, ein mazal l'Yisrael. There's no mazal l'Yisrael. So there's a very interesting Meiri. The Meiri says, ein mazal l'Yisrael—it's the end of Mesechtes Chagigah—only mazal. But we, with ma'aseh, could change the mazal. With tefillah, for example, goyim is mazal. Jews, ein mazal l'Yisrael, we could manipulate the mazal, all right? Zechus, tefillah, we could change. But of course, basically there's mazal, which really answers the question. Yes, a shidduch is mazal, and yes, a shidduch is what? Is ma'aseh, right? Because a person with his ma'asim could change the mazal. You've just experienced another Torah class, brought to you by TorahAnytime.com.
